Alicen Armstrong Brown moved to the coast of New England with her family in 1995 from San Francisco, California seeking affordable housing and less traffic, but not necessarily warmer weather. Alicen has been practicing graphic design since 1981 and graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in Applied Art and Design/Graphic Design.

Alicen's freelance work experience includes: in California, The Oakland Museum, Gensler & Associates Architects, Landor Associates, McKesson Corporation, Primo Angeli, The North Face, and Smith & Hawken; in New York City, Lerner/The Limited Shops; and in Portsmouth, Brown & Company, and the Creative Co-op. Since 1995, her clients have included Bricsnet, Entrepreneur Press, Graf Architects, Gundalow Company, High Liner Foods, Milestone Engineering, New Hampshire Audubon, NH Fish & Game, McLean Communications, Rye Elementary School, Tangram 3ds, University of New Hampshire, Christopher P. Williams Architects, and York County Community College.
